Guest list topping at several hundred people. Temperatures over 90 degrees. Months of preparation. But by looking at Jad and Lenna on the morning of their wedding day, you would not have known either one had any sense of nerves that the day they would become husband and wife had finally arrived. Jad seemed very calm, and Lenna’s excitement rose steadily as she got closer and closer to walking down the aisle. The big day had begun and was off at a rapid pace. The ceremony, presided by four priests, was at the monumental and luminous Greek Orthodox Cathedral of the Ascension in the hills above Oakland, California. Witnessing the beautiful and intricate service in a large, gold-adorned sanctuary made the nuptials even more special. The couple’s Arabic roots were present after the ceremony as well, with traditional dancing, music, and songs at the reception maintaining the excitement of the evening. The true sense of family and love in the room really touched me; I saw smiles everywhere I looked, as everyone was truly present to celebrate Jad and Lenna and welcome them to married life with such happiness. Though it was a day to honor them, both Jad and Lenna put their guests first, making sure everyone was enjoying themselves throughout the course of the night. The answer was clear — everyone, from children to elderly men, were having a nonstop blast on the dance floor. The two families and groups of friends seamlessly blended into one, making it truly a party. Jad and Lenna, you feel like family and friends to me! Your love, connection, kindness, and matching sense of humor can’t be denied. I am honored to have photographed your amazing wedding, and cannot wait to photograph future events in your lives. I wish you nothing but the best!
